And so it begins...

Well, it's my last night of summer vacation with my family gathered here in Kentucky at Mom/Dad's place near Lake Cumberland. We've had a good time. My son, Brandon, did NOT have any injuries this time. (The last 2 summers, we returned to PA with a cast on him or my daughter.) So this is the first summer in 3 years that we've had an accident free summer vacation. Their mother can rest assured that the jinx is over.

Much has changed in the past 2 years for me as well. Life has changed dramatically for all of us. Some good, some bad. Life is definitely getting better for me. It's so great to spend time with family, especially since the kids and I only get to see my family once or twice a year usually.

As the 4th of July fireworks go off here in KY, I can relate somewhat to the Independence Day celebrations across our land: just as our forefathers had gone through hell to get to a much better life, I too have come from a terrible life changing ordeal (albeit not physical life and death) and though scarred, I have survived...and life keeps getting better with time. I have 2 wonderful kids who are closer to me now than before, and a special, beautiful friend who complements my days, treating me better than I've ever been treated in many, many years. Just as our forefathers celebrated their independence with joyous celebration, I too celebrate my new independence and look forward to the years to come, with my wonderful kids and special friends.

May you find something to celebrate this year, too!
